As a young and dynamic organization, New HYTEs relies heavily on volunteers to leverage our impact on the youth we serve. New HYTEs currently has openings for the following volunteer positions:

  • Tennis instructors
  • Academic tutors
  • Special projects volunteers

Tennis instructors

Working under the direction of our Tennis Professional, instructors teach basic tennis skills to small groups of students enrolled in our TEaM after-school program. We are seeking instructors who can coach from 4-6 PM on Mondays at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. Volunteers will use their knowledge of the sport to empower New HYTEs youth through fitness, teamwork, participation, discipline, and shared commitment to a goal.

Summer-only tennis instructor volunteer positions are also available.

Academic Tutors

Working under the direction of our Academic Director, tutors work with a student or small group of students to improve academic skills and develop life skills. Under the guidance of our tutors, students will blossom as scholars and as engaged citizens.

Special Projects Volunteers

New HYTEs has an ongoing need for volunteers to assist with various special projects, work that provides volunteers with the opportunity to make use of professional skills and do meaningful work for a growing nonprofit organization. Examples of past special projects include the creation of a marketing strategy for the organization, the development of metrics for monitoring our impact on students, and research on the needs of children in New Haven.

Benefits of volunteering include the opportunity to:

Use your talents to perform meaningful work on behalf of a dynamic, young nonprofit organization that targets underserved children in your local community.
